|
Panionios was established in 1898 after the clubs Orpheus and Gymnasium of Smyrna were united. The activity of the new club, apart from athletics, was focused on fostering and encouraging any musical, philological and, in general, artistic attempt. Panionios established a school of gymnastics, whose classes were held in the yard of the Evangelical School. Moreover, a great part of its activities involved the organisation of the Panhellenic Games. In 1922 the club was transferred to Athens. |
